Why has the Southampton game been moved to 5.30?
|
I'm sure it was previously scheduled for 3pm, like most of the kick offs on 28th.
I assumed it was because the match was going to be televised but this doesn't seem to be the case. Has there been a reason given for the switch?

it was at the request of the local mosque.
3pm on that day was deemed to be offensive to Islam, so we moved it.
Makes sense.

Apparently because Southampton and Arsenal are playing the late game on Boxing Day.
The Arse are also kicking off at 5.30pm on the Holiday Monday.

I read that it was because Southampton's game on Boxing Day is televised and kicks off at 19.45. Strange that when I was a lot younger, and players used to go down the pub after training, I can remember watching West Ham play on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday. Now apparently an extra two and a half hours is necessary for them to recover.

Because I couldn't get there for 3pm due to other commitments so I asked them to put it back a bit.
Problem?

Cheers chaps. Interesting reason.
It's a bit annoying as I've got a mate's birthday party in Cambridge that evening, but I guess I'll just have to turn up late!

This is pathetic! so playing an hour and a half later is going to make all the difference to Southampton, rubbish!!

It was done for me. Makes it easier for me to pop home before the match after my weekend in Brussels.

Just reading Jimmy Greaves autobiography, talking about playing double headers over Xmas against the same team, home on Xmas Day morning, away on Boxing Day or vice versa...man up Southampton!
